We are currently working with a fantastic authority in Kent that are looking for a Senior Public Health Manager for Vulnerable Adults.

 

Purpose of the Post

The Senior Public Health Manager will oversee a range of programmes which includes Substance Misuse, Sexual Health, Domestic Abuse and Older People. The role will include improving outcomes through partnership working as well as the commissioning of our Substance Misuse, Sexual Health and Domestic Abuse services.

Responsibilities

  • You will be managing a highly motivated team and working with key providers and stakeholders to deliver excellent services to Medway’s residents. You will ensure that people who face additional barriers are able to access effective and appropriate support. As the health system begins to move towards a more place-based approach, you will also have the opportunity to influence how local services meet their needs.
  • You will work with partners across Medway as well as colleagues in Kent County Council and regional lead commissioners to share and apply learning from best practice. As such you will need the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders from statutory, private and third sectors and also have the credibility to work collaboratively with clinical staff.
  • The successful applicant will report directly to the service manager (Head of Public Health Programmes) and proactively manage current commissioned contracts, procurement of new services, delivery of nationally prescribed and locally co-ordinated programmes. As the lead for vulnerable adults, you will be expected to promote health, address health inequalities and collaborate with other agencies to do the same.

Requirements for the Role

 

Knowledge of:

  • Measuring and monitoring population health through health needs assessments, insights gathering or other similar procedures to identify need, risk and inequalities.
  • Promoting health and addressing health inequalities
  • Health protection (communicable diseases and harm reduction)
  • Evidence based practice to provide health advice
  • Audit, Evaluation, performance management and continuous development of commissioned and delivered interventions to improve health.
  • Working to the most recent policies and guidance for Domestic Abuse, Sexual Health and Substance Misuse.
  • Collaborative working with stakeholders from voluntary, statutory and private sectors.
